We were delighted to become runners up in the Best bar none awards for west Yorkshire last year.
This was a remarkable achievement to come second out of more than 500
bars. Entering the best bar none was a real eye opener for ourselves, as we
thought we ran our bars professionally anyway, but this highlighted a lot
of areas to improve our business.
It is a tough process to go through, but a fantastic wake up call to say
"seriously how professionally are you managing your business." It really
does improve your business by highlighting areas you are not doing, or
think you are doing, but in reality you and/or your team are not doing.
We cannot operate with a casual, relaxed manner in todays licensed retail
world. We must all be very professional and accountable operators with the
safety of our teams, customers and communities at the core of all operating
practices.
Best Bar none really does help us achieve this by working in partnership
with all the local authority representatives. By entering the best bar none
I don't see it as trying to win a competition, but a serious appraisal of
how well are we doing our jobs.
If anyone is not sure how to run their business, enter the best bar none as
it is the cheapest and best course you will ever get!
